What is fitting?

By fitting understand sites that serve to connect the pipeline. Various connectors, tees, elbows, manifolds, couplings, and much more – all fittings. Fittings are classified by the method of connection. There are threaded fittings, PEX fittings (such fittings are used for capillary soldering), compression fittings and self-locking fittings.

Threaded fittings are simply wind onto the pipe, is the oldest system of pipe joints. Typically, threaded fittings are made of brittle and splitting of iron and are used with steel pipes.

When you connect copper pipe fittings are used for capillary soldering. Their operating principle is as follows: fitting, pull on the tube and begin to heat up warmer until solder – a thin copper wire or tin – which is under internal thread fitting, do not melt and will not fill the space between the pipes and fittings.

For the connection of metal and copper pipes, you can use compression fittings. They are made of brass, copper, plastic, steel. Compression fittings are easy to use: in the fitting is a special ferrule, which is delayed by a wrench, thereby connecting the pipes.

Well, for metal-pipe used press fittings. Typically, they are made of brass (a crimp sleeve can be manufactured from steel). From the title it is clear that for this type of fittings should be a special device – the press.
